Portage Park is situated towards the northwest side of Illinois. The town is bordered by surrounding community areas including Forest Glen, Jefferson Height, Harwood Height and Dunning. Portage Park consists of the largest Polish communities in Chicago. With an estimated population of 64,000, the land is home to the Polish American Association.
The surrounding area has various delis, shops, and restaurants. One of the town's most herbaceous green spaces, Chopin Park was named after a famous Polish pianist. The Six Corners outdoor shopping district, situated on Irving Park Road, is among the most popular attractions in the town.
Aside from the town’s huge park, there are many clothing boutiques, shopping districts and celebrated bakeries in the area. Portage Park largely has a largely residential area which is mostly covered with two-flats and bungalows. It also has two business districts: Belmont and Six Corners.
The town has many private and public schools along with three public libraries that are open to everybody. People who enjoy theatre are likely to have a fun time at the Portage Theater. In its earlier days, the magical theater was known for releasing new films. Today, the theater hosts modern day events for live music with occasional comedy shows and film screening. Similarly, The Patio is another theater hub that shows first-run movies.
